Third grade is a wonderful year. I know because I have been in the third grade for 39 years, and I am looking forward to another.
In my classroom I stress SUCCESS using the letters: E D U C A T I O N:
E -stands for enthusiasm. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm."
D - is for decision. Students should decide to participate by looking, listening, and doing.
U - unique: There is only one you!
C - choices: Make good choices.
A - attitude: Have an attitude of gratitude.
T - teachers: They are there to help you.
I - integrity: Do the right thing even when no one else is looking.
O - opportunity: Getting an education is a gift.
N - now: Learn the lessons today, not tomorrow or next week or next year!
I use these points everyday in my class. Ask your student about them to see if they know about them.
